Laser SB3

The Laser SB3 is a keel boat that can be launched and recovered from the back of an ordinare two-wheel drive family vehicle. It is a one-class design boat that is built to be raced by a crew of three. The lifting keel incorporates a lead bulb of 330 kilograms. Class rules put a crew weight limit at 270kg to help keep the racing fair.

She is designed to be sailed with good seamanship at the heart of ultimate success. This is not a frantic experience from the physical point of view but it an enjoyable performance boat. The boat is dry, well laid out and spacious with a storage compartment for the essentials. The fixed front stay also allows rig adjustment as necessary.

The boat is very well put together with high quality fittings. She sails well up to wind, as you would expect, and gives an exciting performance downwind. She offers serious one-design sportsboat racing. The class is growing and the results are looking impressive. There is something about the SB3 that gives it a very 'grown up' feel in the world of dinghy sailing.
