The Laser 2000

One of the best selling double handed dingies on the market. The Laser 2000 is a very well thought out boat that combines a safe family sailing boat with some of the more exciting aspects of sailing such as the gennaker. For those family sailors who are finding the plod around the harbour a little tedious, this could be the anser. The 2000 is designed for comfort and the deep cockpit and gentle contour of the deck into the seating are just two examples of their consideration for the crew's comfort. Their is some stowage forward and the furling jib comes as standard. The boom is high, the hull designed to deflect spray, the rudder is nice and responsive and the layout is very sympathetic. Yet the 2000 gives a performance that is exciting and takes advantage of Laser's pedigree for performance design. Whether you are rigging the boat for a begiiner, with a reefed main and furled jib, or competing with the elements with the gennaker flying, the 2000 is compatable.

The key to the 2000 is comfort and combination. It is a great choice as a family boat whether it is for picnics, teaching or racing. She is stable and handles well in diverse conditions. The Mylar mainsail has a full length top batten which helps to shape the sail and deliver power to the rig but the remaining battens are shorter. This allows the sail to be de-powered and makes for easier handling on the water and on the shore. The genneaker and pole work on a single line system which gives you a very easy launch and collapse. The hull is strong and relatively light at 100 Kg, which makes trolley handling and launching a fairly painless operation. A very nice dingy which is well thought out and offers genuine allround satisfaction.
